and Molecular Communications
.
Besides his interests in the computer science research, Yi worked for many industry companies and was involved in several start up projects.
Yi Ren was born on April 1st, 1984 in TianJin, China. After Yi completed his studies at primary school in China, he immigrated to Barcelona with his parents at age of 11.
Yi is passionate about everything related with Information Technology, from telecommunication to computer hardware architecture and software application development. Yi completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at University Ramon Llull – La Salle, where he got his B.S. degree in Telecommunication Engineering, M.S. degree in Telecommunication Engineering and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
CURRENT LIFEIn 2012 Yi decided to departure on a new adventure to Boston, U.S.A. to keep pursuing his dream in the IT area. Yi got his M.S. Computer Science degree at University of Massachusetts Boston with an outstanding GPA (3.9/4.0) in 2014, after he kept on pursuing a Ph.D degree working in University of Massachusetts Boston Department of Computer Science with professor Junichi Suzuki. He received his Ph.D in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts Boston in 2017 upon completion of his dissertation "Evolutionary game theoretic multi-objective optimization algorithms and their applications".
In summer 2014 Yi married with Wen Xiao, and their daugther Jana was born on Feb 20, 2015.
PROFESSIONAL CAREERDuring his academic years in Spain, he achieved Honors in both M.S. Electrical Engineering thesis 'Cognitive Interface Based on TD-CNN' and M.S. Telecommunication Engineering thesis 'Polyharmonic Distortion Modeling and Parameters X'.
Yi published 9 conference papers and 3 journal articles until now, and he got the Best Paper Award in SCIS 2014. He also got 2nd place award during UMASS Boston Graduate Student’s Symposium in 2016, and 3rd place in 2015.
Besides his contribution in the research, Yi worked in many industry companies and was involved in several start up projects. He worked for one year as Telecommunication Engineer in Argelich Engineers NMS S.L., the only Spanish company recognized by the Society of Communications Technology Consultants International. Yi worked as Software Engineer at OpenMobile World Wide, Inc in 2015, and he worked as Data Scientist at DigitasLBi (part of Publicis Groupe, DigitasLBi is a global marketing and technology agency) in 2016. Currently he is working as Associate Director, Strategy & Analysis at DigitasLBi.
